In order to stay in Thailand for a period of more than 30 days, a non-Thai national needs to obtain a Non-Immigrant Visa at a Thai Embassy or Consulate before entering the Kingdom of Thailand. Non-Immigrant Visa
In order to apply for a Non-Immigrant Visa, the prospective applicant should check with the nearest Thai Embassy or Consulate for the correct information and procedure. Basic documents required for all Non-Immigrant Visa applications are as follows;
- A Non-Immigrant Visa application form
- A Passport that is valid for at least 6 months, and a photocopy of the passport
- Two 4 x 6 cm photos
- The confirmation letter from the School that the child will attend (the school needs to hold a valid license)
- The application fee or 2,200 THB for a single-entry visa or 5,500 THB for a multiple-entry visa
Tips:
- Applicants who are planning to travel in and out of the Kingdom several times, and who will stay less than 90 days each time, are advised to apply for the Multiple Non-Immigrant Visa. If you do not plan to enter and exit the Kingdom, then a Single Non-Immigrant Visa will suffice.
- The Single Non-Immigrant Visa is valid for 90 days and the Multiple Non-Immigrant Visa is valid for 1 year starting from the date of entry to the Kingdom.
- If you would like to leave the Kingdom before you apply for a one-year Visa, you must apply for a re-entry permit or otherwise your Visa will automatically be cancelled upon leaving the Kingdom, except if you have a Multiple Non-Immigrant Visa.
- To apply for a one-year (Dependant) Visa, the parents must have 500,000 THB under the applicants name in a local Thai bank for a period of at least 90 days prior to applying. (For joint bank accounts, the sum of 1 million THB and a marriage certificate are required)
One-year (Education or Dependent) Visa
When you arrive in the Kingdom of Thailand with a Non-Immigrant Visa, you will be permitted to stay for 90 days, which gives enough time for you to provide the documents to apply for the extension to a one-year Visa.

A little advice:
- The parent applying for the Visa must have at least 500,000 Thai Baht in a local bank account for a minimum period of 3 months prior to applying for the Visa. If you would like to use a joint bank account, then the balance should be a minimum of 1,000,000 Thai Baht, and a Marriage Certificate should also be provided (even if it is only one person applying for the Visa)
- Documentations in languages other than Thai or English are not accepted. If you have any documentation in a language other than English or Thai, then we strongly recommend that you get these translated into Thai or English by an officially recognized translation company (for more information please contact the school Visa Officer).
- Please also be aware of the process of notifying Immigration of your address every 90 days. This 90 day period starts from the first day that you arrive in Thailand. If you fail to notify Immigration of your address every 90 days, then you will be charged 2,000 Thai Baht.
Re-entry permit
If you are planning to leave the Kingdom of Thailand after obtaining the one-year Visa, we strongly recommend that you apply for a re-entry permit which will secure your Visa. If you leave the Kingdom without a re-entry permit, your Visa will automatically be canceled upon leaving.
The documents required to apply for a re-entry permit:
1. Application Form with the Applicant’s picture
- Copy of the following pages of the applicant’s passport:
- Personal information page (applicants data and photo)
- One-year visa page (for every year)
- The Departure Card (the white card) and last entry stamp page
- The fee of 1,000 THB (single re-entry) or 3,800 THB (multiple re-entry)
