senior games

On late Sunday evening, 37 students from the British International School, Phuket (BISP) returned home after a memorable and successful weekend of competition at the Senior Games in Pattaya.

Our football teams won gold in both the girls and boys divisions, a fantastic achievement! Both teams were solid on defence keeping the opposition scoreless in every single game! On attack they showed great ball movement and teamwork, producing a total of 49 goals.

In basketball, the BISP girls won gold with a dramatic come from behind win against last year’s champs Uplands Penang. In the third quarter they found themselves down by 9 points, but were cheered on by the BISP support crew to snatch victory in the final minute. The boys team also qualified for the playoffs for the first time in four years and won bronze – an achievement in itself!

Danny, one of the BISP athletes who went to Pattaya for the games, remarked that it was a fantastic event for the players, and he would like to thank everyone who made the trip possible.

“Our teams conducted themselves with class both on and off the sports fields. On the first day, our teams did the double, winning both the Boys Football and the Girls Basketball in a nail-biting final. On the second day, our Girls football team also won with our boys basketball coming third. Overall, this Senior Games event was one of the most successful ever and the team spirit showed for each team was something to be proud of,” he added.

The tournament featured 10 international schools from around Thailand and Malaysia. Well done to all players and coaches involved.
