Code of Conduct

The mission of the annual BISP Soccer Sevens tournament is to create world-class competitive experiences and opportunities within a welcoming atmosphere. We strive to develop and realise individual and team potential by promoting high standards of competence, character, and sportsmanship.

 

In order to realise this vision it is imperative that all key stakeholders model a clear set of guidelines.

PLAYERS

  • Display honesty at all times
  • Be gracious in victory and defeat
  • Demonstrate fair play
  • Treat all players and officials with respect
  • Shake hands with players, coaches and officials after each game
  • Demonstrate team spirit through positive encouragement and support

PARENTS & SUPPORTERS

  • Act as positive role models
  • Respect all officials decisions
  • Be supportive of all players involved in the tournament
  • Give positive support at all times
  • Recognise the efforts of the coaches who are often giving up their time

COACHES & LEADERS

  • Respect officials decisions
  • Advocate fair play
  • Shake hands with officials and coaches
  • Treat all team members with respect giving positive reinforcement throughout the tournament
  • Model sportsmanship

Rules

  • The tournament will be played to 7-a- side FIFA laws with no offside.
  • The back pass rule will apply.
  • There will be rolling substitutions, which must take place from the halfway line.
  • The player must leave the field before the substitute can enter play.
  • A goal can be scored directly from the centre pass.
  • It is the responsibility of the coach to ensure players leave the field of play and administer substitutions.

AGE GROUPS AND SQUADS

  • Ages are as of August 1st in the year of the tournament.
  • Maximum 12 x players per squad.
  • Players must all be studying in full time education at the school they are representing.
  • There are boys age categories and girls age categories therefore students must play in their gender groups.
  • During the tournament coaches should have available for inspection the team roster and a photocopy copy of a relevant photo id for all players.
  • All players should be assigned squad numbers which are marked on shirts and retain these throughout the tournament. If players change number, for example due to a change of kit this must be indicated on the team roster and notified to the organisers.

FREE KICKS

All free kicks are direct and the opponents must be at least 5 metres from the ball (same applies for corners).

SCORING

Points will be allocated = 4 points for a win / 2 for a draw / 1 for a loss.

In the case of a points-tie in the pool/league, the order will be decided by

  1. Head to head result
  2. Goal difference
  3. Goals for
  4. Penalties (see below)

PLAYOFFS

In the case of a draw at the end of full-time in the knockout stages, the following procedure will take place:

  1. All knockout games move directly to a penalty area off the pitch in the dedicated penalty area. Except Cup Finals where penalties will be taken on the pitch of play.
  2. Penalty Shootout- Each team will choose 7 players (including the goalkeeper) from their squad regardless of whether they were on the field of play at the final whistle. The teams will take 3 penalties each, followed by sudden death. If the scores are still equal, the players will take a second penalty until the game is decided.

MATCH DURATION

2 x 12 minute games (2 minutes half-time) for all games including playoffs and finals.

SUSPENSIONS

Any player receiving a red card will miss the next game. Two red cards will see a player expelled from the tournament. Any player receiving 2 yellow cards in group games will miss the next group game. All yellow cards will be cleared for the knock out stages. This rule reapplies for the knockout stages. The Organizing Committee reserves the right to make a final decision on any aspect of the rules.

FOOTBALL SIZES

Under 9 size 3, Under 11 and Under 13 size 4, Under and Over 15 size 5

PITCH SIZES

Pitch 1 and 2 -goal size 2×5.20m – Pitch size 40x60m.
Pitch 3- goal size 2x4m – Pitch size 30x40m (Saturday 30 x 50m).
Pitch 4, 5 and 6- goal size 2x4m – Pitch size 40x60m.
Pitch 7 and 8 – goal size 2x4m – Pitch size 30x55m.
Pitch 9 and 10 – goal size 2×5.20m – Pitch size 40x60m.
Pitch 11 and 12 – goal size 2x4m – Pitch size 30x40m.
All penalty goal sizes are 2x4m.
