British International School, Phuket’s Dale Ford was awarded the Spring 2018 (Going the Extra Mile) GEM award from the International Association of College Admissions Counselling (IACAC).

Dale is a University Counsellor at BISP. He has received many prestigious awards during his 27 year career in international school counselling. Including the “Peter Hauet Lifetime Achievement Award” in 2016, his profession’s highest member tribute.

The GEM award programme recognizes the exemplary work of International ACAC members demonstrating best practices, acts of goodwill, creativity and ethics in the college counselling profession. In Dale’s case, he facilitated the sharing of information and lead communication between overseas counsellors and the businesses offering alternative university application systems after the previous and original platform announced, without warning, that they would no longer service international schools. These systems are integral to the university application process, allowing schools to, amongst other things, search for best fit universities, track application data, and securely transfer important, confidential documentation. By using his time, connections and skills, Dale allowed counsellors with less time and resources to have access to the necessary due diligence on various alternative platforms – something that has been greatly appreciated amongst the busy counselling community.

BISP has now chosen which platform they are moving to and Dale is working with the creators to improve and optimise their product for their new international school clientele.

We at BISP would like to congratulate Dale Ford on his achievement.
