Welcome to the primary school section of the BIS Phuket Website. It is a great pleasure to be part of such a wonderful school.

At a recent assembly with our KS2 students I asked them what it meant to be proud. Their reflections tended to focus upon their own achievements in class, on the sporting field or through the creative arts.

I then related a recent conversation I had with a prospective family who were visiting the school. They asked a very straight-forward and simple question, ‘Is this a good international primary school’?  As is always the case, I invited the family to join me on a tour of the classrooms to take a look for themselves.  It was with great pride that I escorted this prospective family from class to class to witness the learning environment, the vibrancy, the interaction, the enthusiasm, the care, the laughter and the sense of purpose that is so evident throughout the school.

As you can see from the images that accompany this website, we without doubt have a magnificent campus set on a world famous tropical island. Having a wonderful campus is a great foundation, however, classical English school architecture, a multitude of lush green playing fields, swimming pools and so many other outstanding features do not make a great school. Being able to see the way our students interact with their learning, the relationships they have with their teachers and the over-riding sense that the children are confident within their environment are the factors that truly impress.

In this assembly I asked the KS2 students if I was correct to inform this visiting family that we are not a good school but a great school? The response was certainly one that displayed their pride in their school. They agreed great was not good enough, they are proud enough to claim that their school is the best school in the world.

If you want to be impressed and have an hour to spare, drop by the Primary office and it will be with great pride that I will show you around our school.
