Teachers
For any specific academic subject matter, it is suggested that queries and concerns be initially directed to the respective teacher. The teachers will be able to explain with clarity and detail what is taking place within the classroom and how the student is coping with the demands of the course. Subject teachers are also in the best position to explain how a student may improve if any academic difficulties are being encountered. If a concern remains, it is important to speak with the Head of Faculty for the particular subject area.
Tutors
Tutors should be consulted for general academic concerns that stretch beyond an individual subject area. Tutors are responsible for the overall development across all subject areas as well as the general welfare of their tutees, and are entrusted to guide and support their students academically, pastorally, and socially.
Heads of Section
Heads of Section are ultimately responsible for ensuring that all students under their care are supporting the school's ethos and values. They are entrusted with maintaining the discipline code and updating practices to ensure that students are provided the necessary encouragement, guidance, and support for their potential to be achieved within and beyond the classroom setting. They should be contacted after communication has been made with respective teacher(s) and/or the Tutor.
Guidance Counsellor
The counsellor is available to all students who wish to consult him about issues of personal concern. Students see counsellors for a variety of reasons including decision-making processes, relationship advice, stress, depression, family issues and eating disorders. Consultations with the counsellor are completely confidential, except in cases of personal risk or harm.
The Counsellor’s office is located on the second floor of the MTB. He is available on most days from 7:30 am until 4:00 pm. Later appointments are scheduled upon request. If the counsellor is not in his office, students should leave a message providing their name and tutor group, and the counsellor will respond as soon and as discreetly possible.
