BISP Girls Under 11s: match report

A full squad of Under 11 (U11) Girls attended the Headstart tournament last Saturday (4 October) with the clear objective to enjoy the first tournament of the season and to play in an organised fashion with a passing style.

The effort and commitment of all players was outstanding, and we saw the beginnings of a team that can have a bright future if they choose to support one another, pass the ball and continue to play with a smile on their faces.

There were particularly impressive performances from Malika Primarolla in goal, whose brave shot stopping and distribution was top class. There were also gutsy performances and some hard knocks from the solid defense of Olivia Friedl, Natasha Morgan, Alisa Langer and Kira Gaeble, who rotated between games.

In the final game Kira had to be persuaded to leave the field after two massive tackles that left her with an injured leg and hurt hand, as she still wanted to continue playing.

The team was well organised by captain Olivia Douglas, who held the team together in midfield supported by great performances from Natcha Forgsrisin, Charlotte De Rocher de la Baume, Katie Thompson and Olivia Fredin. The latter of which also made a cameo appearance as goal keeper for half the final game.

Up front the team rotated between the outstanding Kataya Mallia and Jazzmin Conrad. Jazzmin showed particular flexibility working as an attacking midfield player whose energy and ability was second to none.

Kataya repaid the favour of being chosen as the out and out striker by neatly finishing two goals and causing every defense played against problems with her fast pace and determination.

The spirit and behaviour of the entire team set the high standard for all BIS teams. Highly competitive while friendly and extremely well mannered, the girls were a credit to the school.

BISP Girls Under 13s: match report

At the Headstart Football tournament on Saturday (4 October), the Under 13 (U13) Girls team played some great attacking football and also defended superbly.

In the three games played, they scored 15 goals and conceded none. A lot of credit must go to Irawadee in goal and the defenders who played in front of her: Laura Thomas, Bella Hosking and Jordan Hayward.

The first game against Youth Football Home (YFH) was a close one. YFH have only recently started their girls football programme, but already they have many promising players. They gave us lots to think about but our defence was resolute and strong.

The midfield provided great support and the goals were provided by Ploy (2) and Christina. I expect we will be seeing more of this YFH team in future tournaments.

Our second game was against Headstart. Their team put up a good fight against us and made us work hard for our goals. It was great to see Sofiya scoring in her first ever match for BISP and again Ploy (2) and Christina got their names on the scoreboard as did Susie Svensson (2).

In our third game against the BISP U11 team, it was heartening to see some of our younger players also managing to score; Harriet Clowes and Hannah Diamond as well as Susie and Christina were our scorers.

The U11 team started strongly and in the first half they restricted us to 2 goals. In the second half though the U13 girls superior fitness showed as they scored four more.

Overall, the U13 Girls performed in a very disciplined manner; everybody worked hard for each other and they deserved to win all three games.

Most importantly our U13 girls played in a relaxed manner with a smile on their faces. This was a great tournament and we look forward to the next one.
