Last week, two sessions revolving around Japanese Theatre and Shakespearean plays were organised at BISP and led by Daniel Foley – British actor, writer and performer from The Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama. Mr Foley has appeared in over 200 productions across the globe and has extensive knowledge of Japanese Theatre.
Students from Years 9 and 12 took part in a riveting English workshop during which they learned about various aspects of Romeo & Juliet and Macbeth, plays they will study later this term.
Mr Foley also led an introductory session to Japanese Theatre for the Year 10 and 11 Drama IGCSE students. They were given an insight into this world of performance and learnt some basic techniques which included learning to ‘centre’ yourself and moving from the core of the body. The movements were slow and controlled and a great alternative from their usual busy, quick movements.
