British International School, Phuket – BISP’s Year 11 student Bai-Dteuy (Irawadee Thanwornbut) is participating in an exciting TV show called WinWinWAR Thailand on AMARIN TV (Thai Language) and presented by C-ASEAN, where social entrepreneurs compete against one another. She is one of 5 finalists chosen out of 1000+ applicants and will officially launch her app in the final round this Saturday. Voting for the winner will begin after the 6.20pm show on December 8th (Saturday) and remain open until December 15th.
“I have created a webapp called Sandee For Good that combines wishlists of goods that are needed by charity organisations across Thailand. Donors can access our online store to buy goods for charity organisations, after which we provide the additional service to transport them,” said Bai-Dteuy.
When asked the reasons behind her business idea, she said “It came from seeing people such as orphans and the homeless in need suffering due to bad conditions and I, as a small child, didn’t know how to help. However, I believed in the power of youth, that we can be the change we want to see. Therefore, I am using the skills that I have to lend a helping hand, efficiently and sustainably. This platform has the potential to help millions by the touch of a finger.”
Last week, a media team visited the school and showcased her life at BISP, after which they interviewed her and the Headmaster Neil Richards about the show and her experience.
“The school is very proud of Bai-Dteuy’s success in this competition; she exemplifies the values of the school in action. Her App design is creative, efficient and, above all, displays compassion for others. Of course, I wish her every success in the competition, but more than that I truly hope that this innovative approach to charitable giving leads to improved lives for a great many disadvantaged people,” commented Mr. Richards.
There are 4 stages of the show;
- Pre-audition round (80 entrepreneurs selected from a pool of more than 1000)
- Audition round (20 entrepreneurs selected from 100)
- Market Test round (5 entrepreneurs selected)
- Final: Market launch round (one winner announced and receives funding for continuing the company’s operations)
50% of the votes will be of the general community, while the other 50% will be divided amongst 4 judges. The contestants will be judged based on the social impact and sustainability of the business and their readiness to continue working on their company. The BISP Community looks forward to voting for her, is in full support of Bai-Dteuy’s hard work and wishes her success in WinWinWar and her future endeavors.
