flying fish meet 2018BISP Swim Academy hosted a Flying Fish Invitational swim meet from May 4th – 6th which made for an enjoyable weekend for everyone involved. A total of 503 athletes from 18 schools took part in the event as parents, students and friends cheered them on.

“The quality of this meet continues to grow, and that was demonstrated with the improvements experienced by all competing swimmers. The new Heats and Finals format allowed many of the older swimmers to challenge their endurance, and made for a very exciting event for the spectators,” said Hayley Palmer, Aquatics Director at British International School, Phuket. “The younger age groups showed tremendous depth and development that is taking place locally in Phuket, but also throughout South East Asia, and it will be wonderful so many of those names continue to excel over the years. The support from the school, parent community, teachers and visiting teams was tremendous, and has once again contributed to a standout swim event.”

bisp flying fish crowd 2018“I would like to thank each and everyone who volunteered to help Flying Fish host the invitational. The atmosphere around the pool was electrifying and enjoyed by the participants as much as the spectators. A special thanks to Hayley and our team of swim coaches for all their hard work in the lead up and during the event,” said Jeff LaMantia, BISP Athletics and Activities Director. “I would also like to congratulate all our swimmers for their hard work and determination – we are proud of what you achieved!”

Thanks to Teacher Lee Philips and BISTEK, the student-led Youtube Channel, for Livestreaming the entire 3-day event.
