Over the last two weekends, BISP RPT Tennis Academy Head Coach Lee Austrin organised two very professional mini tennis events, which were a great exhibit for tennis at BISP, and the progress made since the launch of the academy.

“I would like to thank everybody that came and supported the mini tennis events, and we are all so proud of how far we have come in just one year!” said Head Coach Lee Austrin. “This time last year most players were picking up a racket for the first time and now they are competing and have tennis as a skill for life.”

Mini Red – Years 1-3

Winner – Big Ben

Runner Up – Ig

Most Improved – Neo and Ella.

Overall was a great day with some fantastic tennis. Most children were competing for the first time and showed great attitudes. Eventual winner was Big Ben who played aggressively throughout and was the deserved winner. One for the future! 20 players took part.

Orange – Years 1-4

Winner – Eloise.

Runner Up – Manta

Most Improved – Nathan

Great tournament that was extremely close throughout. Eloise Stockings coming through and showing great mental strength having been 4 match points down in the quarter finals to win 10-9 against Zachary LaMantia. Also a great achievement for Year 1 Zachary. Eloise showed real maturity and tactical prowess throughout the day. All players have shown a huge improvement on last year. 22 players took part.

Mini Green – Years 4-6

Winner – Tim

Runner Up – Mistral

The eventual winner was Year 4’s Tim competing against a field of 25 players from year 4-6. Tim showed great mental strength and resilience in winning a hard fought final against mistral. This really is a big achievement for Tim as he showed no fear playing older opponents. He eventually came through having lost only one match all tournament against Kai in Year 6 – 3-2.
