Earlier this week we were very pleased to welcome Andy Gleadhill from ‘Drums for Schools’ to BISP to run CPD sessions for the music department, and to lead a day of samba workshops for Years 7 and 8, and the GCSE music students in Years 10 and 11.

Andy led energy-packed sessions that had all the students playing samba rhythms in no time at all. It was wonderful to see all the students involved with such enthusiasm. Watch this space, here comes the BISP samba band!

Eloise de Perthuis, a Year 8 student, said: “In the workshop I learnt a lot of new things that I really enjoyed doing. I never knew there were so many different drums with so many different techniques and sounds to them.”

Max, also in Year 8, had this to say on the day: “This morning when I arrived at school, I had a wonderful surprise. Even though I knew about the music workshop, it proved to be much better than I had imagined. I learned a lot and I really liked being able to play the drums.”
