To celebrate this summer’s Olympic Games 2016 being held in Rio de Janeiro, the Embassy of the Federative Republic of Brazil (sponsored by Hon. Consul of Brazil in Phuket), British International School, Phuket (BISP) and Cruzeiro EC Brazil are holding the ‘Brazil Embassy Championships’.
Featuring our BISP Cruzeiro Football Academy teams, we would like to invite non-BISP teams to also take part in this exciting event on 11-12 June 2016.

REFRESHMENTS:
Water and ice will be supplied. There will also be a variety of snack bars and food stalls operating where both spectators and competitors can purchase sports drinks and food.
ACCOMMODATION:
There are limited places available in the school boarding house and we will be happy to advise on costs. Contact our Business and Events Director Ms Lynne Daniel [email protected] for information on boarding at the school and for hotel suggestions.
TEAM ROSTERS:
The majority of teams will be representing academies but if there is space available we will open it up for the school teams that wants to take part in the competition.
RULES:
The tournament will be played to 11-a-side FIFA laws.
The back pass rule will apply. There will be rolling and unlimited substitutions, which must take place from the halfway line. The player must leave the field before the substitute can enter play. A goal can be scored directly from the centre pass. It is the responsibility of the coach to ensure players leave the field of play and administer substitutions.
SCORING:
Points will be allocated = 3 points for a win / 1 for a draw / 0 for a loss.

PLAY-OFFS:
In the case of a draw at the end of full-time in the knockout stages, the following procedure will take place:
1 period of 10 minutes extra time
Penalty shoot-out – each team will choose 11 (7) players (including the goalkeeper) from their squad who were on the field of play at the final whistle. The teams will take 5 (11aside) penalties each, followed by sudden death. If the scores are still equal, the players will take a second penalty until the game is decided.
MATCH DURATION:
11-a-side – 2 x 25 minute games (5 minutes half-time) for all games including play offs and finals.
SUSPENSIONS:
Any player receiving a red card will miss the next game. Two red cards will see a player expelled from the tournament. The Organizing Committee reserves the right to make a final decision on any aspect of the rules.
