Meet Katelyn, Theprit, Joy, Prai, Anna, Robin, Artima, and all our other committed student librarians.
These students in year 4, year 5 and year 6, have taken it upon themselves to come and help the library staff at break times and lunch times. We have now so many volunteers that we had to set up a proper rota for duties!
All our student librarians are here to learn about how the library works, how to file books back on the shelves in the right position, and help everyone in the community to find the books they are looking for.
This is a great opportunity for them to learn a variety of skills and become more independent. Students are also developing their sense of initiative, and they are proving to be a very valuable help to us.
Fern in 5PR says: “I want to be a library monitor because I like to help people find books!” Tont (5AH) also comments: “I think reading is fun and I get to help people.”
Next time you come visit us in the Primary Library, please say hello to our student librarians and do not hesitate to ask them for help.
