BISP RPT Tennis Academy player Birdy from Year 2
Last weekend, British International School, Phuket (BISP) students Birdy and Kevin Hansen competed in the latest edition of the Krasea tennis series in Bangkok, a ranking tournament.
14 year-old Kevin reached the quarter finals of both the U16, and U18 singles. In the U16 quarters he played the winner of the last Krasea event, and who had knocked him out in the semi-finals 1-4, 0-4. This time around, he made a real fight for it but just lost out in a very close match 2-4, 4-5 (3-7). In the U18 quarter finals, the score was 2-4, 2-4.
Meanwhile, 6 year-old Birdy was playing this event for only the second time and also showed great improvement. Birdy made the second round in the U10s, but an even better achievement was reaching the quarter finals of the U8s.
In a very tight match Birdy eventually lost out 4-5, 2-4 to the number 3 ranked player in Thailand, who is 2 years older. This was a real learning experience for Birdy, and although results are not important at this stage he is showing signs of improvement and doing all the correct things way beyond his years.
Now it’s back to the courts for all players to keep progressing and working hard. Much work to be done!
