On Friday 15 January, British International School, Phuket (BISP) Year 10 student Jakkree “King” Longlok signed professional terms with the island’s leading football club Phuket FC.
The 18 year-old Trang native signed a one year contract with the local side, and becomes one of four goalkeepers on their roster.
Beginning next week, he will be training with the club six days a week, in the mornings and afternoons at Phuket FC’s training ground in Chalong, and the 15,000 seat Surakul Stadium, where the team play their home matches.
“I’m very excited that my dream of being a professional football player has come true so soon, and I’ve really improved since joining the BISP Cruzeiro Football Academy,” said Longlok.
“Since starting at school two years ago, I’ve learned to communicate in English, look after my fitness, learn the importance of healthy eating, and to think and act like a professional.
“Thank you to the school for giving me this amazing opportunity, and I’m very proud to have been a student here. Thanks especially to Mr Richards, Mr Meredith, Mr Stockings, Coach Jonathas and Coach Fred, for helping me improve my technique over such a short space of time. Really, thanks to all the teachers and everyone who has supported me.
“I remember my first day of school at BISP – I couldn’t speak or even understand any English, I was worried about my future. Then I studied hard, and it has changed my life.”
