BISP athletes at Thanyapura triathlon 2019 1 225x300Athletes and parents of British International School, Phuket’s triathlon community recently joined forces at the Thanyapura Mixed Relay event held on Sunday 21 April.

Four teams, made up predominantly of BISP students, took part and two additional teams featured BISP parents. BISP swim coach, Quinn Beattie, was also part of the winning team, completing the swim leg of race.

The event was a resounding success, with all three teams on the Open Category podium comprising members of the BISP triathlon community.

“Results were secondary, but it was very satisfying to see not only one of our student teams victorious, but the team fully comprising BISP parents coming second, and a parent also in the team placed third.

“Despite being typically an individual sport, triathlon at the highest level is introducing some team opportunities in the format emulated at this event. It very much suits the personality of the sport, which is community-focused and about supporting each other,” Coach Zane explains.
