Wednesday 17th September saw the first primary lunchtime concert of this new academic year.
To start the ball rolling, the music department set the scene with a variety of pieces for instrument and voice. First on was Ms Merja, with an enchanting piano performance composed by Sibelius, then Mr Anand followed with a piece of classical Spanish guitar.
Mr Snape then sang ‘E Lucevan le Stelle’ from Puccini’s opera Tosca, Mr Wilkinson introduced children to the euphonium with ‘Carnival of Venice’, which was followed by ‘The Nightingale’ played on the recorder by Mrs Richards.
Our new Head of Performing Arts Paulette Wilkinson then introduced the clarinet with a performance of ‘Summer’ by Paul Reade, and finally Ms Ying sang ‘Wishing you were somehow here again’ from Lloyd Webber’s ‘Phantom of the Opera’.
The primary audience enjoyed all the performances and provided lots of smiles and applause.
Next Wednesday and thereafter, we would like to encourage instrumentalists and vocalists throughout primary to perform. Also we warmly invite the whole school community to join us for the weekly concerts and enjoy the music!
