On Wednesday 12 October, British International School, Phuket (BISP) students across years 7, 8 and 9 were treated to stunning individual musical performances on the piano from Cat Bendi and Tiffany Yip during their assembly this week.

Nina Hannam and Gemma Massie closed the celebratory event, which included the award of certificates for Rock School and Music exams as well as Cambridge English examinations.

Abbey and Aiden Lemons explained their roles in the publication of ‘For Pete’s Sake’ and raised awareness of the plight of the orangutans which their book both promotes and supports through contributions to charity. This was yet another example of inspiring work and how students can get involved in global initiatives.

Those who currently stand top in receipt of commendations were also celebrated:

  • Andrey – Year 7
  • Mia and Por Pan – Year 8
  • Albane, Laura and Daniella – Year 9

We congratulate Jacky once again for his Bronze medal in the UK Maths Challenge alongside all those recipients today.

Our thanks to Ms Wilkinson and her full team for the performances – none more memorable, inspiring or uplifting than that of the Year 8 Wind Band.

Given many of these students had never played their chosen instrument before starting year 7, their renditions were superb! In an hour a week and homework time, it was an accomplished and confident performance from all and Year 8 are a real credit to the programme.
