Greetings from the International Learning Centre.

Now with the start of the new school year we would like to take this opportunity to welcome you all back to school and the ILCX and to wish you another fruitful year at the British International School Phuket.

The Intensive English Course (IEC) is having an exciting start to the new school year thanks to the two new members of teaching staff and 11 participants from four different countries, who all are eager to improve
their English so that they can join the mainstream classes. According to John Moorse, their new class teacher, “the initial lessons have focused on building the students’ general conversation abilities as well as improving
their reading and writing skills. The group is very encouraging of each other. All of the students have assisted one another to feel welcomed and supported”

The IEC programme has a diverse group of students this time. The programme consists of three Thai nationals, one Hungarian, one South Korean, two Russians and one French/Russian. Another ILC teacher, Ryan Meinhart, a new boarding houseparent and part-time English teacher, is working hard on familiarizing the students with each other by producing a ‘my profi le’ project which will be on display at Kata house.

We are also delighted to announce that the ILC will continue supporting our parents with language classes this school year. The initial meeting for all enquiries regarding opportunities to study English, Thai or Mandarin at the International Learning Centre will take place next Wednesday, September 4 from 2.30-3.30 at the International Learning Centre in Kata house with classes commencing on September 9 2013.
