It has been a very busy term for the ILC activity wise. The Intensive English Course (IEC) is still taking place and has proved to be a great success. Recently some of the IEC students have started taking more mainstream classes to face more academic challenges and to have a first hand experience of studying at an international school with English as the language of instruction. Their main focus is still the end of year exam which will enable some of them to become full-time BISP students next school year.
On May 18-20 2013, the BISP Business Development Department in cooperation with the Koh Keaw Subdistrict Administrative Organisation and the International Learning Centre ran a 3-day English camp for 50 students from four Phuket schools. This project being a part of the local government’s initiative aimed at preparing Phuket school students for entry to the ASEAN community in 2015. For three consecutive days, the11/12-year old students from Baan Sanpam Mongkol Wittaya School, Baan Koh Mapraw School, Mussalim Mongkol Wittaya School and Baan Bang Ku School were learning English with BISP teachers and enjoying out of classroom activities both on school campus and in Phuket. For some of the students it was their first experience of being immersed into English language. The success of the event was noted at the closing ceremony and a hope for more future educational cooperation like this was expressed.
