On Friday March 30th, British International School, Phuket’s Year 12 student Thanadon was named as the winner at the Thailand Grand Final of the English Speaking Union’s International Public Speaking Competition. After delivering a prepared speech, an impromptu speech and answering questions from the judging panel, judges praised Thanadon for his confident presentation style, knowledge of national and international news and his ability to handle difficult questions under pressure.
Miss. Burley, a BISP teacher who also leads the Public Speaking and Debating Club at the school, has coached Thanadon towards this achievement.
Thanadon will now represent Thailand at the international round held in London in May, where he will compete against over 50 other 16-20 year olds. This is the second year in a row that the Thailand winner has been a BISP student. The first was Rebecca (story here).
We wish Thanadon all the very best as he prepares for London.
