On 2-3 June 2016, students from British International School, Phuket (BISP) had the privilege of learning maths from Associate Professor Dr Wongsakorn Charoenpanitseri from Rangsit University.
Dr Wongsakorn worked with students from Year 7 to Year 12 to introduce them to his area of expertise, Graph Theory. Even though this is a difficult sounding topic, students were engaged with a number of mathematical puzzles which introduced them to the mathematics behind this field.
Dr Wongsakorn also took some small group sessions to work on mathematical problem solving.
Given that Dr Wongsakorn has previously worked with the Thai national Olympiad maths team at the International Mathematics Olympiad, this was a great opportunity for our gifted and talented mathematicians to gain tips and inspiration for their maths studies.
The two days were very successful and we hope to repeat this event next year.
