I would like to introduce myself. My name is Martyn Rowlands and I am the High School Careers Counsellor at BISP. I am responsible in assisting your students in their IGCSE and IB choices and in guiding them through their college and university journey throughout the world during their Year 12 and 13.
My role is to ensure students are able to independently research universities but also to help them with their college preparation from SATs and application essays to making their final decisions.
One of the most important roles is ensuring there is open communication between myself, the student and parents, to ensure that the parents are involved in the process and know what is happening, just as much as the students.
With this in mind I would like to invite you to the Parents’ Careers Counselling Presentation taking place on Monday 15th September at 15:00 in the Conference Room.
The presentation is primarily aimed towards Year 13 parents as it is an overview on US, UK and Australian University applications and finances. There will be a similar presentation to year 12 parents in the New Year. However, in saying this, all are welcome.
In addition to aiding students in applying to university, my second role is to ensure students have access to these universities and can speak with them on a face to face basis to ask the questions that cannot be found on the university website, therefore I am working hard at fitting Phuket into as many university schedules as possible, to be on the same university tour map as Singapore and Bangkok.

Those attending the BISP University Fair on Thursday 6th November (13:00 – 16:00) are updated here: https://www.bisphuket.ac.th/bispblog/2014/09/02/mark-the-date-university-fair-coming-to-bisp-on-6-november/
Please feel free to come and attend talks and ask questions as the more interest we show them, the more interest universities will show us and thus the more will visit.
If you have any questions regarding your student or the visiting universities, please feel free to contact me.
I look forward to meeting and working with all of you in the years to come.
