Historian and author, Colin MacKay, delivered a lecture to Year 12 students on his opus magnum, A History of Phuket. The lecture covered not only the highlights of the island’s history, but also aspects of the research process involved.
Mr MacKay described his travels half across the world to study the documents in order to piece together the first-ever comprehensive picture of the history of the island. He also discussed the main themes of the Phuketian past.
The students were keen to learn how Mr MacKay applied critical thinking skills during the research process. The answers were enlightening and sure to inspire budding historians.
