The weekend of 6-7 June saw a festival of girls’ football with BISP girls coming out on top in both the U13s and U15s categories.
BISP Under 13s
The U13s squad consisted of: Ploy, Susie, Hannah, Christina ©, Bai Dteuy, Chalie, Bella, Laura, Daniella, Sofiya and Harriet.
The first match was against South Island School (Hong Kong) and BISP ran out 6-0 winners with Ploy scoring 3 and the others goalscorers being Susie, Hannah and Bella.
Next up was Headstart. This match saw BISP run out clear winners by 8-1. Ploy scored 5 this time with Sofiya (2) and Christina also getting on the score sheet.
The final group game was against Youth Football Home and saw BISP scoring another 7 goals without reply. Ploy scored her third hat-trick of the day and Susie (2), Bella and Laura chimed in with the other goals. Laura’s goal was one of the best “team” goals of the whole tournament, involving quick incisive intricate passing and a sharp clinical finish.
The final was played on Sunday morning and pitted BISP against South Island School. The school from Hong Kong had obviously learnt a lot from their heavy defeat the previous day and were much more difficult to break down (with a new keeper too).
However, two first half goals from Susie ensured that BISP U13s ran out deserved winners of the overall competition and won the 1st place trophy. This team is one of the most improved teams in the school and has a bright future.
BISP Under 15s
The U15s squad consisted of: Shania, Andrea, Flore, Vicky ©, Kayleen, Shayla, Jina, Karen, Becky, Jana and Jennifer.
The BISP U15 squad went into this 4-team tournament boasting a season-long undefeated record. The first game was a tough one against a well-drilled QSI team who were fielding quite a few senior players. The final score was 2-0 to BISP with Shayla and Karen netting the goals.
The next match was against South Island school and BISP played some excellent attacking, penetrating football to run out 6-0 winners. The scorers were: Shayla (2), Kayleen (2), Vicky and Jina
In the final group game BISP U15s came up against a mixed BISP team comprising U15 and Senior girls. This team defended well but was unable to prevent the U15s from scoring four times without reply. This time the scorers were Kayleen, Shayla, Vicky and Alex Marshall (o.g.).
Saturday’s results meant that BISP U15s met South Island School in the final played early on Sunday morning.
BISP got off to an electric start with Shayla scoring a hat-trick within the first 8 minutes. The game continued in the same vein with BISP running out 7-0 winners. Shayla and Vicky both got hat-tricks and Kayleen scored the other goal.
It was perhaps fitting that the twins scored in this game, which will be their last match for BISP before their move to the USA. Their next school will be very lucky to get two such talented and devoted footballers.
Thank you to you both for your outstanding contribution to girls football at BISP.
