Our Senior Games basketball began with a nervous start, being such a new team we were not used to the high pressure situation of the first match. So with St. Andrews Rayong’s exceptional play and our nerves, we came off defeated in our first game.

Thankfully we have a team full of players with huge hearts for the game that were not easily disheartened. We went into the next game more encouraged than ever, knowing that this match determined whether the semi finals were a possibility for us.

We dominated the first half against St. Andrews, and although they crept up on us to create a tied score in the final minutes, a final free throw from Nina in year 13 allowed us to secure the win. We continued to step up our game against GIS and came away with a big win, with great defense from many of our young and new players.

In our semi finals, we played the top of the other pool, Shrewsbury, the eventual winners of the tournament. Their experienced play and effective full court man-to-man press proved to much for us and we missed out on our spot in the finals.

Our 3rd/4th playoff against the home team Regents Pattaya will go down as a huge highlight for the team’s sporting career at BIS. It was an intense game with tight scores throughout and the fight from both teams created fierce play with injuries and fouls continuing to occur.

We were spurred on with amazing cheers and chants from our BIS supporters and with fast breaks from Jasmine in year 13 and further free throws, we held out with a lead until the end.

I am so proud of all my team was able to achieve, and I know myself and the other seniors are looking forwards to seeing the progression of the young players and are thankful to them, Coach Bjorn Eric and Mr. Blake for making it such a memorable final Senior Games.
