The Intensive English Course (IEC) was introduced at British International School, Phuket (BISP) in 2013 with the aim of improving our prospective students’ English through extensive work in developing their reading, writing, listening and speaking skills.
Run by the BISP International Learning Centre (ILC), the IEC takes place during school term time and gives a positive introduction to all aspects of life at BISP in both work and leisure, including the academic timetable, boarding life and the school’s first class facilities.
This term we already have 19 students on the course, with a diversity of age, language proficiency and study skills within the group. We are now in the seventh week of the first term and are very pleased to see all of them settled and fully engaged in the course.
Apart from the English classes with our three English as a Second Language (ESL) teachers, John, Khun Be and Elena, the IEC students also have an opportunity to join mainstream classes such as PE, Art and DT. Our Maths, Science, Music and ICT teachers also meet the IEC students on a weekly basis to introduce them to their subjects.
