19 of our KS3 students from Years 7-9 took part in BISP’s first Concert Band trip to Bangkok. Joining 220 students from 8 other schools at the International School Bangkok, they worked with Allen Slater, a Band Director from the USA as part of a ‘massed band’ experience. BISP was honoured once again to host the Promusica Workshop for talented string players set up by his late Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej. Congratulations to Caterina Bendi in Year 8 who has been selected to audition for the 20 piece Chamber Orchestra that will meet in Bangkok in the near future.

Congratulations to Cosmo, Samuel, Joonas, Toby, Pentai, Miso, Zhanna, Robin and Arun for their high scores in last term’s Instrumental exams. BISP is a centre for the UK examining boards of The Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music and Rock School and welcomes UK examiners several times a year.

A new initiative as part of a collaborative project between the governments of Thailand and Taiwan is the introduction of Mandarin as a First Language class across the whole school. We now have three native speaking Mandarin teachers who will be working with native Mandarin speaking students.

Golf AcademyMark (Vanchai Luangnitikul) in Year 11, proudly represented Thailand last week at the Lions Cup Golf Tournament which covers South East Asia. Oliver Bates, Head Coach of the BISP Golf Academy where Mark trains, is delighted with his rapid progress. “This was a great win for Thai golf and a proud moment for Mark,” he says.
Triathlon Academy Tamino Lokenberg in Year 7 – one of our tri athletes, took 1st place in the Ironkids Triathlon hosted by the International School of Bangkok. Athletic Director Jeff LaMantia congratulated Tamino on his fantastic result and the impact that Coach Zane our new Triathlon Coach is already making on the programme.
