There has been a mystery unfolding in the BISP Early Years over the past few weeks as a mischievous pirate caused quite a stir, tearing up maps and making off with hidden treasure. Fortunately, our curious and courageous young learners were up to the challenge.

The children took part in exciting treasure hunts and map quests, working together to piece clues back together and track down the missing treasure. Most recently, they have been investigating the theft of gold coins from 7-Eleven. Their efforts paid off last week when the local police arrived on campus, helped take the pirate away, and revealed a big surprise.

The children were overjoyed to see Dirty Dave the Pirate being captured, and even more delighted to learn it was all part of a pretend story. Mr David, the Deputy Principal of Primary School had been tricking everyone all along.

This special visit from the police tied in perfectly with our pirate and map topic, while also helping children learn more about storytelling, role play and the people who support and protect our local community. A big thank you to the police for helping bring this imaginative learning experience to life.

To add to the adventure, we’re excited to share Pretty Polly, the Pirate’s Pest, an original story written by Mr Griffith especially for this Early Years pirate mystery. The story helped set the scene for the children’s learning and brought the whole experience to life in a fun and memorable way.
