Q&A with Mika

How did you feel when you found out you were selected for the Israeli U17 National Team?

At first, I was in shock and didn’t know how to react. I was extremely excited and so honoured to be given the opportunity to represent my country.

What does it mean to you to wear your national team shirt?

It means a lot. I feel proud to be one of the girls chosen to reach this level. I’m not only playing for myself or with my teammates, but also for my whole country, and I want to make my friends and family proud.

When did you start playing football?

I started a bit late, around age 10, and only took it seriously at 12. My dad played professionally when he was younger — he’s the reason my love for football grew so much.

Can you tell us a bit about your journey to the national team?

The summer before joining the team, I trained with a professional women’s club in Israel. I stayed in touch with a few coaches, and they offered me the chance to travel with them to Andorra.

What position do you play?

I usually play as a winger or striker. I love playing on the wing because I get to use my speed on the pitch.

The BISP Cruzeiro Academy has given me the chance to train at a high level with great facilities and coaches. They give me individual feedback, which helps me improve my weaknesses and become a stronger player overall.

Has your mindset or training changed since joining the national team?

Definitely. It’s motivated me to train even harder and always look for ways to improve.

How do you balance school and football at BISP?

BISP helps me maintain a balanced routine. I’m able to push myself in both academics and football while continuing to grow as a student-athlete.

Are there any experiences at BISP or with Cruzeiro that shaped your journey?

Yes. Playing with many different teammates has helped me learn a lot — not just on the pitch but off it too. It’s shaped who I am as a player and a person.

Who are your biggest football inspirations?

I look up to a lot of professional players — and even some of my teammates.

What’s been your proudest football moment so far?

Playing on the national team.

What are your future goals in football and beyond?

I’d love to represent the national team again and go to university in the US while playing football at the highest level I can.
