International Day will see us recognise and celebrate our wonderfully diverse BISP community of over 60 nationalities.
Our students arrived at school dressed in their national colours and clothing, and many lessons throughout the day will be centered on language, identity, culture, respect, tolerance and inclusion. Students will have the opportunity to share aspects of their own culture while considering all the things that connect us, including our responsibilities in the global community.
While we will celebrate International Day with passion and pride, I would like to take this opportunity to acknowledge the strength and unity shown by our community over the past 12 months.
Due to the pandemic, many of our families and staff members have been unable to visit their home countries to see family and friends, meet new relatives, or say goodbye to lost loved ones. This has been unprecedented and a challenge for us all.
We hope you have found strength and support within our BISP community and join us in looking ahead to the future, where we can once again travel freely, explore familiar and new destinations and connect with people we miss.
We are a truly international community here at BISP and if the events of the past year provide an impetus for recognising all that connects us, that would be a silver lining.
I would like to thank all members of our international community for contributing to the success of our school over the past 25 years.
