BISP was fortunate to welcome Martin Brockman to campus for a PE staff professional development day and a hands-on workshop with our BTEC Sport students. The sessions focused on modern coaching approaches and the development of transferable skills in athletics.

Martin represented Great Britain in the decathlon for nearly a decade, earning medals at major international events and bringing over 15 years of coaching experience. He has worked with athletes at all levels, from grassroots to international competition, and now runs Brockman Athletics, delivering bespoke coaching workshops to schools worldwide.

During his visit, Martin guided our BTEC students through a variety of practical activities, helping them connect classroom theory with real-world application. Students explored movement, coaching methods and performance strategies, gaining valuable insights into how to lead and support athletes across different sports and learning stages.

The day offered an excellent opportunity to develop confidence, apply knowledge and learn directly from an elite coach with international experience.

The PE Department would like to thank Martin for providing such a meaningful and inspiring experience for both staff and students.
