At BISP,  Units of Enquiry are designed to make learning an active and collaborative process. Through these units, students connect with the curriculum, actively engaging in the learning process.

To ignite curiosity in their new Unit of Enquiry, our Year 6 students took on the role of archaeologists during an exciting dig in the primary sandpit. They uncovered jigsaw pieces that, once assembled, revealed key images linked to Ancient Greece: the Olympics, Greek Gods, Theatre, and Architecture. After completing the double-sided jigsaw puzzles, students worked together to crack a code, using the Greek letters and symbols on the puzzle pieces.

This archaeological adventure began their study into ancient civilisations. Guided by the “Big Question”—”How have ancient civilisations influenced our world today?”—students will develop critical thinking skills while making connections between historical and modern-day influences.

By making learning interactive and student-driven, subjects like history come alive, making learning both engaging and meaningful. The excitement of discovery continues to fuel their journey into ancient civilisations, helping them see the relevance of the past in shaping our present.
