In this interview, Duana, a Year 13 student at BISP, reflects on her journey as a swimmer, artist, and boarder. Originally from Nepal and Ireland, Duana joined BISP at the age of 12 and has grown into a dedicated athlete and student, representing Nepal on the international stage, including at the recent Olympic Games.

As a member of the BISP Swim Academy, Duana shares how training, travel, and team spirit have shaped her time at school. Beyond the pool, her passion for art has flourished under the guidance of BISP’s Art Academy, and she also speaks about her deep interest in wildlife and ecology, which she discovered growing up in Nepal and continued to explore in Phuket.

Duana opens up about the challenges of homesickness, balancing academics with high-level sport, and the support she found through the school’s boarding community. From international swim meets to art exhibitions and CAS service trips, her story is one of growth, resilience, and connection.

Her future plans include studying Wildlife Ecology and Conservation, reflecting her strong interest in the natural world and environmental protection. She is also interested in exploring areas such as sports marketing and media.
