In this interview, Mika, a Year 11 student at BISP, reflects on her journey as a footballer, boarder, and student-athlete. Originally from Israel and Canada, Mika joined BISP two and a half years ago on a football scholarship and quickly became an integral part of the school’s football programme.

As a member of the BISP Cruzeiro Football Academy, Mika shares how training, support, and competition have helped her grow as a player. Inspired by her father, a former footballer, Mika began playing at age 10 and has since gone on to represent the Israeli national team, recently competing in the UEFA Under-17 Championship qualifiers in Andorra.

She speaks about the discipline required to balance football and academics, and how boarding life has provided the structure and support to manage both. From early morning training sessions to dedicated study time and teacher guidance, Mika describes how the BISP environment has helped her thrive.

Highlights of her BISP experience include competing in Soccer 7s, playing against the Thai national team, and feeling part of a tight-knit, competitive community. She also appreciates the academic flexibility and encouragement she received during national team commitments.

Looking ahead, Mika hopes to continue her football journey at university in the US or Europe while pursuing a degree related to sport and performance. She shares advice for younger students too: enjoy the process, don’t stress too early, and always ask for help, it truly makes a difference.

This interview captures Mika’s drive, gratitude, and strong connection to sport, community, and future ambitions.
