In this interview, Year 13 boarding student and BISP’s first Visual Arts Scholar, Zhysha, reflects on her journey from London to Phuket. With a dual heritage of Jamaican and Indian roots, Zhysha shares how the art scholarship opened doors for her to pursue her long-standing passion for creativity, sketching and architecture.
Zhysha speaks candidly about overcoming challenges, from time management and homesickness to navigating life in a new cultural environment. She highlights memorable moments such as the Bangkok and Chiang Mai art trip, her first professional exhibition, and the sisterhood she found in boarding.
Now preparing to study Model Making at Arts University Bournemouth, Zhysha encourages others to apply for the art scholarship and take the leap into new experiences. Her advice to future students? “You’ve got this—and you’re not alone.”
