Miyuka has been part of the BISP community since 2014, starting in Year 3. Over the years, she has grown into a confident, passionate leader with a deep commitment to creating positive change. She has been accepted to a number of outstanding universities, including Wesleyan University, where she was awarded the prestigious Freeman Asian Scholarship – a full-ride award covering all expenses for four years of study (Only 11 incoming students are awarded the Freeman Scholarship each year). She has also received offers from Indiana University Bloomington, Marquette University, the University of Toronto, the University of Bristol, King’s College London, UCL, University of Warwick and IE University.

Miyuka plans to study Neuroscience with a possible minor in Entrepreneurship, a path that reflects both her scientific curiosity and her drive to make a social impact at Wesleyan University as a Freeman Asian Scholar. Her extended essay at BISP sparked her interest in neuroscience, while her leadership roles helped her develop a passion for project-based change and international collaboration. It was through the IBDP, and the global perspective it fosters, that Miyuka became drawn to the liberal arts model and its interdisciplinary approach to education.

Throughout her time in Senior School, Miyuka served as Deputy Head Student, Head of Events and Service, a leader on the Eco Committee, and a member of the Peer Support Group. These roles gave her the confidence to take initiative, lead meaningful projects, and raise awareness for causes she cares deeply about – including the Charity Ball, one of her favourite BISP memories. As a high-performance Aerialist, she also learned to balance ambition with discipline, focus, and teamwork.

Looking ahead, Miyuka is excited to continue her global education and apply her learning to drive change. While she’ll miss the beauty of Phuket and the school’s vibrant campus, it’s the people she’ll remember most – the mentors who supported her journey, the friends who stood by her, and the community that became her second home.
