The 2024–25 academic year was filled with energy, initiative and inspiring student leadership as BISP’s CAS (Creativity, Activity, Service) programme continued to grow in purpose and reach. Students embraced their role as changemakers, turning interests into action and shaping a more compassionate, creative and globally minded school community.
Leadership through mentorship and example
The year began with momentum as Year 13 students led “How to CAS” workshops, guiding Year 12s through the core principles of the programme. These sessions went beyond project planning, offering practical tools, mentorship and inspiration to help younger students navigate leadership roles such as Model United Nations delegates and House Captains. In doing so, senior students embodied the IB Learner Profile and sparked a ripple effect of confidence and engagement across the cohort.
Compassion in action
Early in the year, Year 12 students responded to island-wide flooding by partnering with 5 Star Marine to deliver essential supplies to affected communities. This act of service set the tone for a year filled with meaningful outreach, including the continuation of the HERPeriodDignity campaign. This student-led initiative not only supported local charity Phuket Has Been Good To Us but also resulted in the installation of free sanitary products in school toilets, promoting equity and dignity for all learners.
Creativity and collaboration
CAS students embraced creativity as a tool for connection and impact. The “Blind Date with a Book” campaign promoted literacy in a fun and imaginative way, while the student-led BISP Charity Prom brought together celebration and service, raising funds for local organisations and establishing what many hope will become a lasting BISP tradition.
New initiatives and global issues
A key addition to this year’s CAS landscape was Refusion, an eco-conscious initiative aimed at reducing plastic waste through upcycling workshops and awareness campaigns. Students also continued to shine on the global stage through MUN, representing BISP at international conferences and developing skills in diplomacy, advocacy and public speaking.
Island-wide impact and heartfelt goodbyes
The 24 Hour Race Phuket brought students together from across the island to raise awareness and funds in the fight against modern slavery. In the final term, the annual Animal Welfare Drive once again united the BISP community in support of local rescue shelters. The project was led with care and dedication by Ms Kathy Coulson, whose lasting contribution to the CAS programme and student wellbeing was recognised with heartfelt gratitude as she concluded her time at BISP.
As the year closes, BISP celebrates a CAS journey that has empowered students to lead with courage, act with compassion and create meaningful change. With strong foundations in place, the future of CAS at BISP looks bold, purposeful and full of promise.
