BISP’s Year 6 students recently completed their LAMDA-style Speaking in Public assessments, with outstanding results across the board.
LAMDA, short for the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art, is one of the UK’s most prestigious drama schools. It also offers a respected series of communication and performance assessments designed to help learners build confidence, clarity and expressive skills in both performance and everyday communication.
As part of the assessment, all 59 students prepared and delivered a two-minute speech about a book of their choice. This was followed by a short question-and-answer segment, where they explained why they had selected that particular book. Each student also took part in a brief conversation with the visiting examiner on a topic they had chosen themselves.
These assessments offer valuable experience in formal public speaking, helping students develop confidence and poise in a supportive, structured setting.
We are delighted to share the excellent results:
• 8 students achieved Distinction* (100%)
• 21 students were awarded Distinction
• 19 students earned a Merit
• 11 students passed successfully
This was a wonderful opportunity for our students to practise clear communication, share their interests and build valuable life skills. Congratulations to all of Year 6 for their hard work and thoughtful presentations.
