Every year in Term 3, BISP Secondary organises a transition programme for Year 6 students making the move to the Secondary School the following academic year.

Over three days from 7 – 9 June, our Year 6 students were able to access much of BISP’s Secondary School curriculum and experience a full and varied timetable. This included firing air-powered rockets in Design Technology and obtaining their bunsen-burner licence in Science. The students learned to code spirographs in Computer Science and competed for House Points in both mental as well as physical challenges.

After having to conduct an online transition programme last year, BISP’s Head of Middle School, Mr Lee Phillips, said it was great to see this year’s Year 6 cohort walk confidently into the Secondary School and engage in a fun-packed transition programme.

“It was wonderful to see so many happy and smiling faces as the students made their way to a Secondary School Tutor Room for the first time.”

“And we were very pleased to hear comments from the students that they are no longer anxious about the move away from Primary and are looking forward to their next adventure in August,” Mr Phillips said.

The three-day transition programme was wrapped up with a reflective session delivered by Mr Phillips, Mr Crossland and Mr Stockings.
