BISP was delighted to welcome former Premier League and international footballer Steven Caulker to our school for an inspiring and engaging visit with our students and staff. We would like to extend a huge thank you to Steven for giving his time so generously and for sharing his experiences, knowledge, and personal journey with our community.

Steven first delivered a powerful presentation to our Senior School students, where he spoke openly about his professional football career, the realities of elite sport, and the personal challenges he has faced along the way. His honesty, humility, and authenticity resonated strongly with students, providing valuable lessons around resilience, self-belief, and perseverance. We were particularly impressed by the high level of student engagement, especially during the question-and-answer session, where students asked thoughtful and insightful questions that led to meaningful discussion.

Steven then led an in-depth mental health workshop with our BTEC Sport students and Physical Education staff, focusing on wellbeing in sport and everyday life. Drawing on his own lived experiences, Steven explored key themes such as managing pressure, coping with setbacks, the importance of support networks, and breaking down the stigma surrounding mental health. The session provided valuable learning for both students and staff, linking real-world experiences to academic study and professional practice.

Steven shared how much he enjoyed his time with us, praising the maturity, curiosity, and openness of our students, and expressed his desire to return again in the future. We are extremely grateful for the inspiration he provided and proud of the way our students represented the school throughout this memorable visit.
