Students at BISP are developing valuable skills beyond the classroom through the Builders of the Future after-school activity, held in the Innovation Centre and led by Mrs Duncan and Mr Kaiser.
Year 10 students Louis and Bertram recently completed the programme, working alongside younger students to design and build a future-ready version of the school using Minecraft Education. The project focused on sustainability, creativity, and teamwork, challenging students to think critically about environmental design and real-world problem solving.
Collaborating in a mixed-age team, they helped guide younger students while contributing ideas such as rooftop gardens, solar panels, and green community spaces. Their group demonstrated strong leadership and coordination, ultimately earning recognition in multiple categories, including creativity, sustainable innovation, and promoting community and belonging
Reflecting on the experience, Louis shared that the activity helped develop leadership skills and taught them how to support and guide younger students effectively. Both students highly recommend the activity, highlighting it as an engaging and rewarding opportunity for others.
The Builders of the Future Club will run again in Term 3, and any students from Years 5 to 9 are welcome to sign up and join on Schoolsbuddy.
You can explore more of their work and ideas through their video tour of the project.
