One of the many highlights of being an intern at BISP is the opportunity to accompany students and teachers on residential trips. During Trips Week (24th–28th November 2025), interns stepped beyond the classroom to support students while exploring different regions of Thailand.

Three interns, Scarlett, Sarah and Amanda, travelled to Krabi with the Year 7 students. The trip included kayaking, snorkelling and time on the beach, offering a memorable blend of outdoor learning and coastal exploration.

Year 8 students visited Koh Samui, where they stayed at a sports resort and took part in activities such as Muay Thai, team sports, paddle boarding and kayaking. Interns Polly and Louise also made use of the facilities, including recovery sessions in the ice bath and sauna. A boat tr

ip to Pig Island proved to be a particularly memorable experience for both students and staff.

In Kanchanaburi, Year 9 students took part in hands-on activities including brick-building, where interns Helena and Will fully embraced the experience alongside the students.

The Year 10 trip to Koh Lanta focused on camping and hiking, giving students the opportunity to develop independence and resilience while enjoying Thailand’s natural environment. Despite some challenging weather, the experience was highly rewarding, with local Thai cuisine standing out as a highlight.

Earlier in the year, two interns also joined Year 12 and 13 BTEC PE trips to Khao Lak and Koh Samui. These trips combined team-building activities with the use of technology to assess and develop physical fitness.

In Term 2, interns supported International Award expeditions, making the most of the high season conditions. The Silver Award sailing trips took place around Koh Lon in partnership with the Java Sailing Club, where interns experienced a role reversal as students demonstrated their sailing knowledge. One intern also joined the Gold Award expedition, a week-long sailing journey around Phuket, living and working onboard throughout the trip.

Overall, these experiences have been a key highlight of the internship programme. They provide valuable opportunities to support students beyond the classroom, contribute to experiential learning, and gain a deeper appreciation of Thailand’s culture and environment.
