Just before the October half-term break, students from Year 5 to Year 13 came together in the Innovation Hub for BISP Robotics Build Day 2026, a day dedicated to preparing for the International VEX Robotics Competitions in Bangkok in January 2027.
Throughout the day, students worked on designing, building, programming and testing their robots. The VEX IQ teams focused on developing mechanical designs and improving robot performance, while the VEX VRC teams explored more advanced mechanisms and competition strategies.
Led by Mr Clark and Mr Lucas, with support from Mr Armstrong, Innovation Intern Mr Jarret, Mrs Kench and Mr Man, and ongoing guidance from Mr Shaw, students worked through a range of engineering challenges. Not everything went to plan, and several teams had to rethink their designs, rebuild mechanisms and test different approaches before finding solutions.
One of the highlights of the day was seeing students from different year groups working together. More experienced students shared their knowledge, while younger team members contributed their own ideas and approaches.
The Build Day gave students an opportunity to develop their technical skills, learn from one another and make progress on their robots ahead of the upcoming competitions.
We look forward to following their preparations and seeing our BISP teams compete in Bangkok in January.
