In Year 1 English lessons, children have been learning the names of different foods through songs, games and role play activities such as shopping. To bring this learning to life, pupils also had the opportunity to try a selection of foods including olives, lemons, carrots and bananas.

The activity sparked plenty of enthusiasm, with students not only tasting new flavours but also building vocabulary to describe taste and texture. They practised expressing their likes and dislikes, giving reasons and learning from one another’s perspectives.

This learning story reflects BISP’s commitment to “Inspiring Learning”, where language acquisition goes hand in hand with curiosity and real-life experiences. By engaging multiple senses and encouraging risk-taking in a safe and supportive environment, children not only expanded their English skills but also built confidence, collaboration and a sense of adventure in their learning.
