As part of their Habitat Hunters Enquiry, Year 2 students have been exploring the animals, environments and ecosystems that make up their local surroundings. This engaging unit has encouraged curiosity, care and respect for the natural world through a series of hands-on learning experiences.

The children recently enjoyed a special visit from the Wonders in Nature team, taking part in an interactive session to learn about snakes, their habitats, adaptations and diet. Students were fascinated to discover more about these incredible reptiles found in Phuket, while also learning important lessons about safety and respect for living creatures. They loved sharing their knowledge, safely handling the snakes and asking thoughtful questions to deepen their understanding.

The enquiry continued with a memorable visit to an elephant sanctuary, where students observed how elephants are cared for, learning about their diet, habitats and the environments they need to thrive. Seeing these gentle giants up close helped bring their classroom learning to life in a meaningful way.

To conclude the unit, students prepared and presented their very own Phuket Animal Showcase, inviting family members into the classroom to share their projects. Working in small groups, they proudly displayed their research, models and artwork, demonstrating how much they had learned about Thailand’s diverse wildlife.

Through Habitat Hunters, Year 2 has built both knowledge and empathy, developing a deeper appreciation of the living world around them — and the importance of protecting it.
