IMG 20260224 133847 1We are proud to celebrate the outstanding achievement of three BISP students who have been named Champions in Thailand (Team) in the prestigious MIT SHPE Engineering Competition, delivered via the AlgoEd platform.

Competing against more than 300 students from 21 countries and 72 schools, Year 13 Physics students Timothy, Xiying and Ty worked collaboratively online to tackle complex, real-world engineering challenges. The competition, organised by the MIT chapter of the Society of Hispanic Professional Engineers, is designed to test students’ STEM knowledge, analytical reasoning, and presentation skills at an international level.

The contest structure included a rigorous online preliminary assessment, followed by a live solution presentation to a panel of expert judges on Zoom. After successfully completing the preliminary round, Timothy, Xiying and Ty presented their team’s engineering solution with clarity and confidence. Their performance earned them the top result in Thailand.

For Xiying, the experience was both challenging and rewarding:

“Explaining our reasoning live to judges was a great experience. It strengthened my confidence in applying physics knowledge to practical engineering problems.”

This achievement reflects not only strong subject mastery in Physics and engineering principles, but also composure under pressure, effective teamwork, and the ability to communicate complex ideas clearly, all essential competencies in higher-level STEM study and future professional pathways.

We congratulate Timothy, Xiying and Ty on this significant accomplishment. Their success demonstrates the depth of talent within our senior cohort and the strength of BISP’s academic culture in fostering problem-solvers who can compete and excel on the global stage.
