Written by Louise Jones, PE Intern
It has reached that point in the year that all the interns have been dreading: time to return to our normal lives. Instead of tanning on tropical beaches, getting GRABs and visiting 7-Eleven most of us will be spending our time studying in lecture halls, paying extortionate prices for petrol and fighting for a trolley at our local Tescos. The end of the school year feels bitter sweet. We have made some amazing memories during our year in Phuket but after 11 months away we are looking forward to seeing friends and family back home.
Things we are going to miss:
– BISP’s Khao soi
– Frisbee Thursdays
– 50 baht mango smoothies
– 300 baht massages
– The beautiful sunny weather
– Beaches
For interns coming in, we also wanted to share some words of wisdom:
– Use the facilities – you have free access to pools, a golf course and tennis courts USE THEM
– Get involved – you are not tied to your department, try ultimate frisbee or make some pots in the Innovation Centre
– Support local businesses down the road from the school.
– Stay organised, stay enthusiastic and enjoy every moment!
The year goes insanely quickly and before you know it you are snapped back to reality standing outside in the cold British rain and staring at a stale Lidl muffin wishing it was a lava cake.
Thank you to everyone at the British International School Phuket for the amazing year, we will miss you all!
