Learning a new language is most effective when it is active, practical, and enjoyable. Across our Primary School, students have been developing their Spanish skills through a range of interactive games planned and delivered by Rosa Ali, BISP Languages Teacher, helping to bring vocabulary and key concepts to life in the classroom.

Year 6: Building Vocabulary Through Games

In Year 6, students have been learning the names of body parts in Spanish. To reinforce this new vocabulary, they took part in a Snakes and Ladders board game, using Spanish terms as they played. The activity encouraged repetition, collaboration, and confidence, helping students practise speaking and recognising key words in a relaxed and engaging way.

Year 5: Learning to Tell the Time
Year 5 students have been focusing on how to tell the time in Spanish. During their lesson, they used a dominoes-style card game to practise matching times and phrases correctly. This hands-on approach supported students in applying what they had learned, while also developing accuracy and fluency through peer interaction.

Year 4: Numbers and Money in Spanish
In Year 4, students have been learning numbers up to 100 in Spanish. To consolidate their understanding, the class rotated through two activity stations. One group played a five-in-a-row board game to practise number recognition, while the other took part in a card game that required them to pay the correct amount of money using Euros. These activities helped students connect language learning with real-world contexts in a meaningful way.

Across all year groups, these lessons show how language learning at BISP is designed to be engaging, interactive, and age-appropriate. By learning through play, students build confidence and develop a strong foundation in Spanish that will support their learning as they progress through the school.
